I got these to put in my dog's small pack Frontpet Explorer Ultra Light Medium Dog Backpack With Four Individual Low-Profile Storage Compartments – Perfect For Storing Water, Bowls & Treats! Dog Backpack Harness because I didn't have collapsible bottles that fit and other bottles are rigid and still take up space when empty. These fit in the pockets and 2 have enough water (500mL a piece) for a decent hike so I don't have to carry quite as much extra. I like that they are stiff enough to stand up even when empty so they can dry completely without anything holding them open. The clear cap covers seem superfluous and I've just been leaving them off because they were taking too long to get on and off every time we stop. The carabiners are quite cheap, but I don't plan to use them, so it's not a big deal for me. I'm interested to see how they do being frozen in the summer.

This product is total junk. I am always someone that reaches out to the manufacturer but these are so bad I had to write a review to keep others from wasting their money. The lids don't go on well, the come unscrewed and leak all over you. The caps are hard to get off the lids. They don't expand well for filling, they don't line up when rolling them up to fit in the clip like pictures indicate. The clip broke on one of them after gentle/basic use and then to top it all off, one of the seams broke on one of them and exploded water all over our bags in our trunk on vacation. Don't buy this product- too many issues that are not worth your money!

Good basic bottle with limitations

The rating takes into account the price paid and their intended use.
I used them for hiking both on and off-trail. Naturally enough they are not rugged enough for off-trail use and two got damaged that way. (One got punctured by probably a cactus needle when I put it on the ground when having lunch.) The protection cap is annoying to pull off. You can leave it on loosely but it then rattles. The bottles have sharp corners which can be removed with a scissors. Before filling it is useful to inflate the bottle the get the most water in.
The carabiner is very useful to hang the bottle from your rucksack belt. It makes it easier to remove if you use a second carabiner. You can hang one on both sides of a bumbag to distribute their weight more evenly.
So some good and some not so good. I don't regret buying them at the price I paid for them.
