Tesco shopper horrified after husband spots something strange in bottle of water

Carol Jones has been left concerned that the items could have made her unwell
A woman has shared her shock after she noticed mysterious white blobs floating in a bottle of flavoured Tesco water.
Carol Jones, who has multiple sclerosis (MS), reached for the drink to take her tablets one morning in January this year.
And to her surprise, her husband John quickly pointed out that something looked wrong with the blackcurrant still water.

It was then that the couple spotted items floating in the drink.
Carol had not tasted any difference when sipping from it earlier, but her MS reduces her sense of taste, so she is unsure whether the items would have affected this.
The 70-year-old quickly rang Tesco customer services to explain the situation, and was reportedly told that there was no need to return the bottle.
Instead, she received a £5 voucher in the post the following day for the inconvenience.
Carol is now concerned that whatever was in the drink bought at Tesco Extra on Stratford Road in Shirley could affect her health.
Tesco are unable to confirm what the items floating in the drink were as they do not have the bottle for testing.
Speaking about noticing the items in the drink, which was purchased in December last year, Carol told BirminghamLive: “I was quite taken aback. I can only use my left hand as my MS affects my right side.
“I reached for it to take my tablets in the morning, and John noticed something floating at the bottom of the bottle. I was shocked.”
She added: “I rang up Tesco and got through to someone on the third attempt. I explained the situation, and they said they would send me a voucher in the post, which would take seven days.
“I asked what I should do with the bottle and she said ‘that’s up to you’. The £5 voucher came through the following day.”
Carol claims that Tesco did not ask for a barcode for the product or any images of the bottle.
She added that she was told that it could be returned to the store if she wished, but that this was not essential.
Following the ordeal, Carol has been put off returning to Tesco.
She said: “I haven’t bought anything from Tesco since. I’ve started shopping online at Morrisons and my friend takes me to Sainsbury’s once a week.”
Carol added that she is worried that it may impact her health, although there is no definite evidence of this.
“Trying to get into my doctors, I have more chance of Father Christmas coming,” she said.
A spokesperson for Tesco confirmed that products are checked at every stage of the production process.
They added: “We work closely with all our suppliers to ensure there are robust quality procedures in place, and products are thoroughly checked throughout the production process.
“We’re sorry to hear about this experience and ask customers to return products to the store so we can investigate fully.”
